Blocking Pop Ups

Advertisers seem to never give up. They constantly bombard us with ads everywhere we go. Fortunately, there are at least a few ways to block unwanted pop ups on the Internet. Choose one or more from the following options:

  • If you use Internet Explorer, the update to Windows XP called Service Pack 2 contains an ad blocker.
  • If you use Mozilla Firefox, there are blocking options available in this browser too. There are also addons which will block any unwanted pop ups.
  • Internet Explorer users can download an appropriate software that will block pop ups. You can look for it on Google, MSN, and Yahoo.
  • If you would like to invest some money in protecting you from ads, you can always purchase an ad blocker. There are a lot of them on the market.
  • Some antivirus and antispyware software has a feature to block pop ups. You may need to activate it manually.
  • Check with your Internet provider. Some of them like, for example, AOL can add a pop up blocker as a feature in your monthly subscription.

Overall, there are many ways to block pop-ups, so it seems that there is no need to spend money for a pop-up blocker. My favorite way to block pop ups is to simply use a browser that has such a feature.
