Cyrillic Internet Addresses

Russia is a large country with a huge population, but currently it does not have a large number of Internet users. However, it is a fast developing country and the number of Internet users could even grow by 50% within the next two years. There is an opinion among analysts that the number of Internet users is not that high, because Russians are not used to using the Latin alphabet. This observation led to a decision to implement a new domain extension, available in Cyrillic. Before this decision Russians were using the .ru and .su extension. Some people are asking how will this affect the Web, and whether it is a good choice. I am pretty sure that this might put some gap between Russians and the rest of the world, because it will be difficult for most Americans and Europeans to even type the new Cyrillic domain name. In Russia itself there are more and more people learning English, so they are going to have less and less problems surfing the web. Generally speaking, I think that this decision will be beneficial in short term, but may not be that beneficial in the long term. Anyway, I am happy that this may increase the number of Internet users.

I am a big fan of small devices that can be taken anywhere, at any time. I was happy to read that Intel is planning to focus its efforts on producing more of its small devices that will have wireless Internet access. Intel has already displayed a wide range of wireless Internet devices. So far laptops and smartphones are considered to be the most popular wireless Internet devices, but Intel might change that. Intel’s new product is going to be called MID which stands for Mobile Internet Devices. Run a Program or Save a Program?

Whenever you click on the download button of a file from any webpage on the Internet, you will be asked whether you want to run this file, or whether you wish to save it.
If you choose the save option, you will save the program or file on your computer. It is generally safer than running it, as you can scan it before opening.
However, if you choose the run option and decide to run the program or file immediately, the file will be downloaded to your computer as a temporary folder. Your computer will automatically start opening the file without your confirmation or scanning for viruses. This solution might be a lot faster if you want to check out what you downloaded very quickly, but it is definitely more risky. What I would like to recommend to everybody is to save a file first before opening it. I know that it might take you more time than you would have to spend if you chose to run a program immediately, but I believe that it is worth doing. The Internet is generally not a safe place. Every file which you chose to download brings the risk that you might download a virus.

The truth is that a lot of computer users do not do anything to protect their privacy. So, my tip is this: set your Windows password so that nobody else will be able to access your computer.
